Design and Marketing Digest 2/24/14

This week we will focus on a combination of tidbits from here and there and a great piece of advice on negotiating in business.

1. First of all I saw this great calendar. Click here for more information! Remember when you were a child (ok this is something that we secretly or not so secretly enjoy doing even as adults!), what did bubble wrap mean to you? Yup, that pop, pop fun. Well how about a calendar, that you have a bubble to pop out for each day that passes? a winning combo.

2. Next, here is a great resource for planning UI design. This was recommended by a fellow designer. Simply fantastic information! http://goodui.org/

3. Now for my promised piece of advice about negotiations. I attended an excellent workshop on this topic on Monday. What is very important to realize before started to negotiate,  it is always important to know what your alternative plan of action is if you are not able to negotiate the deal you are looking for. That was you do not come in seeming desperate. Another very important point is to do research on the other person, to know what they stand to lose if they do win in the negotiation. Lastly, what can you offer that will serve the other parties interest that will not cost you money, but will mean something more then a dollar amount.

Have you ever had to negotiate with someone in business? are you a competitor, avoider or accommodator. What are your tips that have worked for you?
