DAY TWO: Tuesday, January 22, 2013
Yesterday was a very interesting day. First of all I gained a appreciation for technology. Yeah, Yeah, I get it you are most probably wondering what deep thought or happening made me come to this realization. For 1 problems with my computer, which also caused problems with phone and internet. I always took it for granted that it all works. every day. like clockwork. But, I was thrown for a loop. We still need to get everything all straightened out, but b’h it is getting there.
- This brings to mind some great services that I use and suggest you implement pronto. It will save you literally! Dropbox. Did you set up your backup system yet, I mean an online backup system. Well what if your motherboard fries (If you do not know what your motherboard is, do not worry I am not sure what it is either, but I do know that it is the mother of the computer and like all mothers if the mother is not well, then all the other parts of the household will not work either. Dropbox is really fab because it allows you to have it as a folder that you cna drag stuff into, and it will constantly be synchronizing between your computer and your online Drop Box Account. You can also share Drop Box folders to collaborate with other people and share work between others effortlessly.
- Harvard College Grad seeks babysitting job! I saw this interesting article over at Forbes.com about the fact that even though a person graduates from a top level college or for that matter from college at all does not guarantee them a well paid position. The interesting thing is that especially in the Art field, there is so much fluff added when a person is pursuing a degree. Rather focus on what is really needed to do well in the field, surround yourself with great mentors and instructors that are there to give you the support and help you need!. Also it is when you can show proof of what you can create that is what will get you hired. The interesting thing is that employers nowadays go a step further and look at the portfolio, but also look past it and when a person goes for an interview, they ask the designer to design a piece of work according to specifications that would mimic what the designer would need to create on the job.
